We are a natural, holistic village focused on reconnecting children and families to nature—simple living with a focus on an appreciation for life.
We are looking to begin a community and lease land. Before doing so we need interest from a few dozen people to assume payment for a share of the land lease and provide a small amount of monthly income to begin building.
We had initially thought focusing on helping foster children would prove to be a beneficial effort to help children and an opportunity to earn income to care for the children and sustain the community. Unfortunately, the current foster care system, while having made great strides in the last decade, is still not addressing the needs of children and will not permit us to do so under its current structures. The evidence of its failure is in the statistics, which include the fact that eighty percent of all incarcerated people are former foster children and seventy percent of all homeless are former foster children.
Thus, our focus has shifted to helping parents who wish to turn their children over to the foster village before agencies get involved or take control of their children, or towards helping kids who have turned 18 and aged out of the system. While not exclusive to former foster children, the community we envision is geared towards a population of people who are spiritually inclined and looking for a simple way of life.
Ours is a simple, spiritual community based on Sufi teachings, but open to all.
We welcome you to join our effort or provide services, expertise, mentoring, or financial contributions that will help move this important effort forward.
The BEFV is focused on helping the earth (bodies and land) to heal.
