We are a small group of people who are deeply concerned about the interwoven and accelerating problems of population growth, natural-resource depletion, and environmental degradation. We are individuals who have chosen to live cooperatively and steward this land ... caring for it in a way that it will be healthy and beautiful for our children's children.
We align ourselves with all the other groups and centers across the country that are dedicated to helping heal the Earth. As our particular focus, we have chosen to demonstrate specific, practical strategies by which individuals can simplify their lifestyles and become more self-reliant--with organic gardening, ecological agriculture, solar energy, and appropriate technology.
Our 1,635 acres of land are managed as an ecological sanctuary and wildlife-habitat preserve, and we have developed a small, hands-on environmental-education center. We have staff, interns, and a volunteer program. We are open to the public every Saturday and frequently offer weekend workshops on a variety of topics, including permaculture design, organic gardening, low-cost building-system design with indigenous materials, solar-greenhouse design, country crafts, composting-toilet systems, and natural history.
