CoHousing Group Kwarteel
Culemborg,
Netherlands
** Info added by FIC - translated by Google translate from the www.kwarteel.nl website. **
Our residential group consists of 24 condominiums for people over 45 and the building is called The Kwarteel.
We have a number of communal facilities. On the ground floor we have a large bicycle work with town and garden equipment cabinet. On the first floor we organize in our roundel with terrace joint activities. Next door is a small laundry room and on the second floor is a guest apartment. Last but not least there is a large communal garden.
In late 2003 the completion of the building is a fact and in May 2004 following the inauguration.
It is Kwarteel in Culemborg in the ecological district Lanxmeer.
The district is known far beyond our borders is the design of energy efficient and sustainable building with modern architecture and attention to the social cohesion among residents.
Our group is at home and involved in the structure of the district. Members of our own residents' association as that of BEL neighborhood association actively help shape the district.
We live in a water overlooking ponds and a tall old apple orchard. We heat our homes with heat recovered from tap water.
The district is so low-traffic is parked outside the building. The Kwarteel has, as an exception, a modest parking on private land.
Just 2 minutes walking distance to the railway station and bus stop. There are about 4 trains per hour to Utrecht (15 min) and Den Bosch (30 min).
Culemborgs old center with many shops is 5 min 10 min walk or bike.
In our building is the workshop for the Third World State.
