| Jesus People USA (JPUSA) is a Christian community in the inner city of Chicago. We operate both as an intentional Christian community and as a worshiping church (part of the Evangelical Covenant Church). The 450 people who live together at a single address on Chicago's north side hold all property in a common fund and live predominantly out of a common purse, looking to the model of Christian community depicted in the New Testament (Acts 2:44---47, 4:32---35). Living communally and pooling our resources in this way have enabled us to minister to one another and those outside the community in ways that might not have been otherwise possible.
The outreach of the community is local, national, and international. Locally, JPUSA is best known for its social-service ministries, which include a fairly comprehensive network of shelters, a soup kitchen, and a senior citizens' residence. Www.wilsonstation.com is our blog of life, faith and culture, while www.JPUSA.org is our more static information and introduction site. The annual Cornerstone Festival gathers thousands of people, young and old for five days of camping, concerts, art, and seminars at a separate property in Bushnel, IL. JPUSA's many and varied musical groups have made an impact worldwide. We have been privileged to function as a resource to the church, a haven for people in need, a learning experience for thousands whose journey has taken them in our doors and out to serve elsewhere over our 40 years of ministry. | Contact: Links: Wilson Station: Contains a dynamic mixture of various content types (i.e. blogs, editorial posts, etc), reflecting our community | Community location is placed at the center of the zip/postal code, city/state, or city/country (not based on street addresses) |
