| Michigan Womyn's Music Festival is a crucible for womyn's culture; a place to get your opinions stretched and your senses rocked. We build this community anew every year and take with us the inspiration, power, and hope that it ignites in each of us. The experience? Truly extraordinary ...
Situated on 650 acres of secluded forest and meadows, Michigan is home to 5,000-6,000 womyn from around the world. We are communally run by each womyn who attends--all participate in two- to four-hour work shifts in addition to the efforts of hundreds of womyn who work to create and maintain the festival space.
Three meals a day are served of wood-fire-cooked vegetarian specialties. There is a full peer-support system for all needs: medical, emotional, disability, sober support, and childcare.
There are over 300 other workshops offered and nightly screenings of womyn's film works. The massive and wonderful crafts bazaar features the work of over 130 craftswomyn.
And the music: The multiple stages serve for both day and night shows, acoustic as well as loud and funky. The gathering of eclectic womyn's music spans the globe: rock, classical, percussion, folk, African, punk, a cappella, Latin, gospel, jazz, and pop--it's all here!
