Fox Housing Cooperative
Carmarthen, Wales,
United Kingdom
(Dyfed SA32 8NE)
 We live on a 70-acre ex-dairy farm, are involved in growing and delivering organic vegetables, agroforestry, woodland planting on our land, as well as a mobile bakery. We are increasing diversity and sustainability and are developing into some kind of eco-village.
The aims of Fox are to create an ecovillage of autonomous homes that care for the land in common. The co-op member’s ethos focuses around earth care and people care.
Key ways of creating this are:
A commitment to an ethical and ecological lifestyle supporting organic farming and low consumption;
Attachment parenting and home education of children until they are at least 8 years old (after which time the child may choose to try school);
Keeping the home and group environment free from addiction i.e., great care taken around the use of alcohol, drugs, caffeine, processed sugar, TV/video/DVD/computer games, the use of which is up to the discretion of each household, but kept to themselves;
Communal meals to be vegan;
Sharing of co-op jobs fairly amongst members;
Commitment to using consensus decision making and conflict-resolution techniques;
Focus on building respect and trust for each other rather than making rules; and
Being receptive to each household’s different approaches to diet, lifestyle choices, etc., within ethos of co-op.
We've got a lot to do, a lot to learn, and we're going to make mistakes and have fun. We welcome offers of both long- and short-term help. If you'd like to visit, please contact us.
