| Lothlorien is a community concerned with naturopathy and spirituality. Founded in 1984 on the model of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, we try experiencing and propagating alternative lifestyles, within a holistic approach. We are open to receive guests throughout the year, and we organize many therapeutic as well as educational events.
Lothlorien is located in a very beautiful valley in the Chapada Diamantina mountain range, called Vale do Capćo, right in the center of the state of Bahia, 470 kilometers west of Salvador, the state capital city. The valley, at a height of 1,000 meters, is endowed with rich tropical vegetation and surrounded by mountains where many crystals are still found and where, up to 50 years ago, diamond mining was the major source of income for the whole region.
There are many options of walks to rivers and waterfalls, as well as trails through the mountains and plains of the area.
In order to get to Lothlorien, you should first get to the city of Salvador and then catch a bus in the local bus station (Rodoviaria), run by Real Expresso, to the city of Palmeiras. The journey takes approximately seven hours.
