| Resting among the rolling hills and meandering Osage River of central Missouri is the little town of Warsaw.
Living here on a small homestead of nearly seven acres, our community (six or so families and several single people) gathers every morning and evening to hear from our Creator through one another. Devoted to the teachings and selfless life of our Master Yahshua the Messiah (Jesus of the Bible), we lay down our lives for one another (meeting each other's needs first) to see His kingdom come to the earth. We work, rest, dance, laugh, and eat together as a family, enjoying one another's fellowship.
Alternative energy is (thankfully!) becoming less of an alternative here and more of the norm. Our wood-fired boiler system, tucked between two of our homes, stores and transfers heat by circulating water. Pleased with how efficiently this works, we plan to experiment with biodiesel in the (hopefully) not too distant future. Several new additions including a greenhouse, goat/chicken barn, and a restored old tractor for our garden have increased our farming reality.
Several years ago, we acquired the old “Osage Hotel” on Main St. We had desired to create a unique social atmosphere for the people of this region. By combining ageless beauty and artisanship, with warm hospitality and a place to meet friends, we opened our “Common Ground Café on the Osage" in mid-2008. We now offer smoothies, breakfast dishes, wholesome sandwiches (made with fresh breads), and lively salads all made from scratch. Also, an espresso bar featuring yerba maté drinks as well as many others. Evenings herald a special dinner. The second floor of the café, where we host meetings for various groups, presents a beautiful view of the lake and harbor. Plans are underway to open a bakery in 09'.
Further down Main St., we have a reputable wood shop where we undertake many types of woodworking jobs. We design and fabricate hickory furniture in our business called "Ozark Rustic". The other branch, "Heartwood Design", builds custom cabinets, countertops, and staircases, just to name a few.
The Ultimate Purpose of any community endeavor however, is to be the home that our Creator has always desired for the lonely, just as spoken in Psalm 68:5-6. We are thankful to have this life of love together as a people, and we welcome visitors anytime! Fridays evenings at 6pm is an especially wonderful time to come and enter into our celebration of the Sabbath.
