Unity Kitchen Community of the CW
Syracuse, New York,
United States
Unity Kitchen Community of the Catholic Worker is a small Catholic community that is submitted to the teaching authority of the Roman Catholic Church and uses only valid worship forms.
We witness to the unity and sanctity of human life and to the value and dignity of every person from the conception to natural death, which means we speak against all abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, war making, and oppression of the powerless. We express our witness through our newsletter, the _Unity Grapevine,_ through Good Friday Way of the Cross, through public-speaking engagements, and through our dinner hospitality for the poor.
We offer a family-style dinner to 24 registered guests (same guests at every dinner). It is a gracious, peaceful, dignifying sit-down dinner in a beautiful setting. Each table of 6 is served by a nonpoor volunteer who also sits and shares in the dinner and fellowship. We are currently open Monday and Wednesday for dinner and Sunday for Mass and refreshments. Room and board are provided for workers and stipend of $10 weekly and a day off a week.
