| Hesbjerg was born of the monastic idea, generated by personal youthful experience of Benedictine monasteries in Europe and Africa. Project "Modern Monastery" defined 1950 (= Def. I).--Successive peak events, discoveries: 40 hectares appropriate property, castle, buildings, acquired.--Pedagogical experiments started; students working four hours daily for stay, no cash. University entrance exam in one year (= Def. II).--Peace research introduced to Denmark by us (= Def. III).--Buddhist-Christian compatibility discovered, accepted, combining East and West (= Def. IV).--Artists´invasion, recognition of "Beauty will save the world" (Dostoyevsky).--Ecology finally conquered our agriculture, our minds, as a common ideological denominator (= Def. V).--Now we are preparing for twin monastery, Buddhist and Christian, and building guest house for monastic aspirants.--We believe five rock definitions above (not forgetting Dostoyevsky) are essential for saving the world: Monasticism (discipline perseverance prayer) + Work real work, everyman´s opportunity--and duty + Ecological principle: global sustainability + Peace research leading to world order world peace + Buddhism and Christianity cooperating, strengthening each other.--It is not enough to save yourself! You have to save the world. | |
