Bread and Roses - Base community
D-22177 Hamburg,
Germany
Bread and Roses is a Christian base community living in a rented 12-room building in Hamburg, Germany. We live together, share our house with homeless refugees, and share income and a lot of other resources. We are inspired by the Catholic Worker movement, other houses of hospitality, and Christian communities in the United States and Latin America. We have daily morning prayer and a biweekly worship and try to spread our social vision by inviting people to our house and by social action for marginalized people. We are pacifists and try to live simply to protect the environment. Although presently we live in the city, a move to the countryside or to a sister community in the countryside is not excluded.
