Saint Francis Catholic Worker House of Hospitality
Chicago, Illinois,
United States
We're a bunch of organic-goat-cheese-eating, bicycle-riding, recycling, composting, anarchal pacifists sharing our home with people who have lost theirs. We try to live simply, but it's hard when we dumpster Chicago's finest.
We align ourselves with various struggles for social justice on a local, national, and global level. Our neighborhood is ethnically, economically, and psychologically diverse, and we're just four blocks from Lake Michigan.
Our house started over 35 years ago in the Catholic Worker tradition, but followers of any, all, or none of the above religions are welcomed. Members of the decision-making community, i.e., "workers," generally work outside the house part-time and are around the house at other times to do hospitality, collect food and stuff, fix things, etc. Visitors are always welcome.

Visitors Accepted
Visitor Process: Visitors are very welcome! We are always looking to expand our volunteer base, and would love to meet anyone who might be interested. Lately, we try to have a community dinner together most Monday evenings at 6:00 -- new people often drop by, and it would be a perfect opportunity to come and see the house. Give us a call, or visit our website for other events and information.
