William Stringfellow Catholic Worker
Peoria, Illinois,
United States
The Catholic Worker has been in existence for many years. Since our previous house burned down several years ago, we have concentrated on serving public meals every Sunday. We recently bought a house and are in the process of getting it ready for hospitality. We also plan to start a community garden. Our main goal is to try to live up to the ideals of the Sermon on the Mount. Besides doing charitable work, we are also involved in various justice and peace work, concentrating on ending militarism.
We eventually plan to offer hospitality and are thinking of offering hospitality to families of Pekin federal prisoners.
We all have jobs outside the house so that we can pay for food, utilities, and the mortgage. All of us are involved in peace and justice issues.
