Gwerin Housing Association
W Midlands DY8 1RD, England,
United Kingdom
Gwerin Welcomes All
Started in 1979 and located 10 minutes walk from Stourbridge town centre, Gwerin is a cooperative of four houses, three of which are part of a Victorian terrace. These large houses are shared between members of the association. Each House is run differently, according to the individuals who live there. We have weekly meetings where the membership comes together to discuss the running of the association and a financial budget produced by rent like contributions. We are a mixture of individuals, and as a community have no particular ideological focus. Every aspect of the association is open to scrutiny by the members who, in turn, volunteer their skills to ensure that the rules of the constitution are tempered by the day-to-day reality of life in the community. Over the past 27 years Gwerin has evolved into an intentional community encouraging freedom and responsibility within a supportive and cooperative community environment.
