Dragonfly Farm
Lake Saint Peter, Ontario,
Canada
(Beyween Bancroft and Algonquin Park)
Situated just east of Algonquin Park amid the rolling, pre-Cambrian hills of the Canadian Shield is Dragonfly Farm. Our small collection of people persists on 250 acres of trees, marginal agricultural land, and beaver pond.
We have a commercial greenhouse business that offers a plurality of flowers, organic vegetable and herb starts. Our gardens provide us joy and bounty.
We welcome visitors, especially those from foreign lands who wish to experience rural Canada and need a place to stay. Accommodations are primitive. We heat with wood, have electricity, and use an outhouse since there is no indoor running water. In the summer months camping is available at the conference site. Donations of monies from visitors go toward taxes, etc. A few hours of assisting in farm activities is welcomed.
Here at Dragonfly the "politics of anarchy" rule within a sense of "communal individualism." Communication is required before arrival.

Hey, I lived on this hippie commune when I was a kid. I remember it being a lot of fun, crazy snow in the winter (night time trips to the outhouse, brrr! And breaking a crust of ice on the well to get water...), some carnivorous animal ate a bunch of the chickens, Earthbound festivals at the campsite, midnight sweat lodges, lots of kids. Oh, and blackflies, lots of little bitey blackflies. And the raspberry patch. And the rainbow staircase. Man, memories. Good place that Dragonfly farm.
