New Environment Association
Syracuse, New York,
United States
The association, begun in 1974, provides a framework and process for people to come together in order to create a sustainable society--a "New Environment"--through raising awareness, modifying lifestyles, developing a sense of community, and taking part in cooperative activities. A wide range of topics is addressed at our general meetings and study groups, from organic gardening and holistic health to new economics and alternative education.
Activities vary and depend on members' interests. Currently, we operate a large CSA project in the Syracuse area, have published a "Steps to Sustainability" calendar, and are looking for land to create an educational center, possibly with a small community. The long-range goal is new communities that are humanly and environmentally sound. Members gather periodically for weekend retreats and pursue specific projects in small working groups. Our monthly newsletter reaches readers across the United States and in several other countries. Send for a free sample copy!
