SOME MEMBERS ARE LEAVING (7/15/07) SO WE NOW HAVE OPENING(S) FOR NEW MEMBERS.
ZimZam expresses our desire for vibrant physical, mental and emotional health. We strive to be connected and in tune with the earth. Here eco-consciousness is the norm and shared food is vegan. We examine our lives and challenge each other to be ever more earth friendly.
We work to create a place where we feel safe and respected. All sexual orientations, genders, cultural backgrounds and ages are welcome. We envision a space which includes children, while adults choose to restrain their own procreation. Another founding vision is that all animals have the right to be free, therefore we don't own animals either as livestock or as pets.
Currently we have a 3 bedroom house on an acre of land 3 miles from downtown. The city bus goes by our front door. The land is managed as evolving edible forest garden. We are activists: creating, promoting and manifesting visions of sustainable culture utilizing models of non-authoritarian democracy and consensus.
Possible directions for growth: adding a rural component; adding adjacent properties; working toward an eco-neighborhood/village/city. We’re open to inclusion of neighboring households some of which might not be vegan nor exclude animal ownership. The most available way for you to become a part of ZimZam is to buy an adjacent house or to help fund the construction of additional bedroom spaces in our current house. Those without that much financial ability could live nearby and help, through work, to create more living spaces within the community.

Visitors Accepted
Visitor Process: Calling us on the phone is the most likely way to reach us. We will gladly call you back if you leave a message. email often gets lost. Visitors must have a genuine interest in possiblities of future participation. As a Servas host we host occasional visits from people of other countries. Also, we will sometimes host eco/peace/justice activist(s) passing through who need a place to stay a night or two. We don't usually have time resources to accomodate the needs of people who are touring communities in a general way.
