Ecovilla Asociación GAIA
NAVARRO, Buenos Aires,
Argentina
(rural area)
Gaia Argentina is a pioneer ecovillage project with permaculture basis, in development since 1996, in a rural area 120km from Buenos Aires.
Gaia functions as a living and learning center, and has been sharing information and inspiration for permaculture projects and ecovillage development in the southern region and farther. We offer courses on permaculture, natural building, ecovillage design, circle dances, aromatherapy, and more.
Gaia hosted in March 2000 the first Latin-American Permaculture Convergence with great success. We created the Argentinean Permaculture Institute (IAP) as a space for experimenting, implementing, and teaching permaculture systems. IAP focuses on research and practice of appropriate technologies adapted for the local needs, to transfer them to impoverished people in our country. New members are participating in the project in many different ways.
