Le Novalis
Auteuil, Laval, Quebec,
Canada
Le Novalis is a forming community, possibly modular (i.e., disseminated), where we'll gather around projects of artistic/creative, social/ecological, and philosophical/spiritual scope, often using computers. Leisure won't be our last preoccupation. Each resident will have their own bedroom. Children won't be accepted as residents unless they are age seven and over and come voluntarily. There is a trial period for newcomers. Decisions will be taken by all members (resident or not) and by consensus. As much as possible, we will produce our own food and cook it ourselves. The community will also be an inn, an art gallery, and a restaurant for visitors. It will be vegetarian and will recycle as much as possible. It will be situated possibly in Quebec, possibly in or around Montreal, but possibly also elsewhere on the globe, in places where people speak French or English, ideally near a lake. The name of the community has been chosen after Novalis, a German romantic writer of the eighteenth century, who left us mystical poems and the fragments of a thought that was still dreaming (he died at the age of 29) of a reconciliation between science and poetry, music and mathematics, nature and metaphysics.
