Our Family
The life of the community in Hamburg began in 1993 in East Aurora, New York, with a small household of people sent from Island Pond, Vermont. We have moved a few times since then and we settled in Lakeview, NY just outside Hamburg. As the early church did, our life centers around the one we follow, Yahshua, the messiah of the New Testament, and the love he gave us to pour out on each other. We devote our lives to him and to each other every day, sharing everything we have. All our time and energy are focused on caring for the community of those who believe in this love. In this same way the disciples our Master gathered lived and shared everything they had. They were set free to live this way after He rose victoriously over selfishness and its result, death. We have been set free to do the same. We have abandoned our individual lives and work together in various trades. We are about 50 people in one house and are always looking for ways to share the abundance of life that we have in our master. Many of us were searching for meaning to life and for real love. All of us needed to be forgiven and escape the trap of selfishness. We are thankful for the example our Master showed us. We know there are other people with the same heart, and we are looking to share what we have with them. This is a way of life that does away with the egocentricity of loneliness and arrogance of separation. We live a simple, normal, and uncommon life and wholeheartedly welcome anyone who wants to know their purpose.
