Luz del Corazon Eco-Village
Colonia Liberdad, Costa Rica, Costa Rica
(Costa Rica)
We are currently building on our 183 acres of beautiful rural Costa Rica. We have with three rivers and four spirngs, and about 100 acres of pristine rainforest. We have lake Nicaragua and Volcano views, and are open recieve to interns, visitors and member owners.
We have 15 lots available for member owners, and our structure is a member/owner landholders association. We also have food, vehicle and tool coops to govern the other aspects of rural community life. We plan to build an assisted living and a hospice facility in addition to a green building school. One of our members is a Registered Nurse with over 25 years of Emergency Medicine experinece in addition to being a liscensed Acupuncturist, herbalist and Qi gong healer. She is already quite popular with the locals for her health and healing treatments.
We are putting in tilapia ponds, orchards, and gardens. The property already has over 250 citrus trees, coffee trees and cacao trees in addition to abundand natural floura and fauna.
We are builing platforms for four non-toxic Yurt/Dome homes then we will continue with building the simple yet elegant earth bag homes with bedrooms and wildlife viewing areas upstairs.
The property is located about 20 minutes east of Liberia on Rincon de la Vieja. It is accessible by a public road that ends at the gate to the property, we are at the top of the mountain.
We are well connected with the local government and are helping to re-build a local school. The local villages below the property have been recieving their drinking water from our farm, and that will continue. It fosters our relationship with the neighboring communities and facilitates good communication.
In September 2012 we have four reisdents on the land, creating the infrasturcture and support needed to expand into a full green building school and thriving community gardens and lands.
