Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary
Otaki Forks, Otaki,
New Zealand
The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary is a recently established animal sanctuary working with neglected/abused native and introduced animals. Our main focus is on rescued farm animals. We have 26 acres in the Otaki Forks Area, just over an hour from Wellington. The sanctuary is strictly a human-vegan space. We are establishing an intentional community and are in the very early stages.Queer/lesbian/gay/trans welcome. We have a main house and are working towards sleepouts and other housing options. Currently 4 adults and one teenager permanent residents. We run 3 fundraising opshops/charity stores that pay for the mortgage and animal care. Residents contribute towards food and bills. Currently over 130 animals residing at the sanctuary - pigs, goats, cows, sheep, cats, dogs, geese, chooks, horses and more!
