Birds and Bees Permaculture Village
Viroqua, Wisconsin,
United States
We have 20 acres with option to buy more with interest and financing. We envision a number of small homesteads of 2-3 acres all using permaculture principles to grow our own food, fuel, etc,.,. There will also be some shared land 5 or so acres, for recreation. This land sits 1 mile from a 1300 acre wildlife preserve ( I consider it part of my yard). Car sharing, community meals, healthy living, animal husbandry, music, the sky is the limit. PS. We own the land, just need some people to make it happen.
PS For those who do not live in the immediate area, The Driftless Region of Wisconsin (where we live) is much like that of Appalachia, with small hills (people out east call em mountains?). The area did not glaciate during the last ice age, and therefor retained the hilly terrain. There are many back to the landers, young and old, who live in this area. 10 minutes from our land is the national headquarters for Organic Valley, the largest Organic food cooperative in the world (I think). They always seem to be expanding and hiring qualified folk. Viroqua has a food coop of over 2000 members, and is a new and beautiful facility. I have also heard that Vernon county has the most organic farms per capita in the country. There are lots and lots of other amazing things happening in the area, too much to tell here, but feel free to call and I can chat your ear off.
