A Associação Ecológica Portal do Sol é uma ecovila formada por um grupo independente, sem vinculação a entidades nacionais ou internacionais políticas, religiosas ou filosóficas, com o objetivo de ensinar a viver com conforto e abundância, respeitando os ciclos da natureza. São 83 unidades residenciais, com construções autossustentáveis, utilização exclusiva de energias limpas (fotovoltaica, eólica, etc), controle biológico de efluentes,plantação de orgânicos em agroflorestas e reaproveitamento de águas pluviais. A parte pública do Projeto objetiva ser um polo de referência em sustentabilidade, utilizando uma diversidade de técnicas sustentáveis, com trilhas ecológicas, labirinto, tunel de cromoterapia, geodésica, onde são realizadas oficinas diversas, anfiteatro, restaurante, observatório astronômico, quadra poliesportiva, entre outras coisas. Teremos ainda a casa do mel, onde serão ensinadas as técnicas em apicultura, centro de vivências e do conhecimento, e o núcleo de saúde com terapias naturais para prevenção de doenças.

Para alcançarmos a meta de lixo zero será construído um galpão de reciclagem para administrar o lixo da comunidade e do entorno.

As crianças do Portal do Sol terão uma escola onde pretendemos utilizar a Pedagogia 3000. Esta escola estará aberta às crianças das cidades vizinhas.

Todo o Projeto Portal do Sol está sendo documentado para ser copiado em outros locais, com as adaptações necessárias. Já fizemos diversas parcerias, com o Grupo de Escoteiros da cidade, a UERGS, universidade local, Espaço Holístico Solar (medicina alternativa) e Pastoral da Saúde (fitoterápicos).
