Toronto Activist House

Regenesis, a grassroots environmental and social justice organization, is facilitating the creation of activist housing in Toronto. We have successfully established one activist house and aim to create more. Our activist house (or rather loft) is located on The Danforth.

What is an Activist House?
An activist is someone who works towards bringing attention and taking action to important environmental, humanitarian and social justice issues. Activism can take many forms, from educational initiatives, fundraising, letter writing or rallies. Activists dedicate countless volunteer hours to the causes they are passionate about, often while also working or attending school and living on fixed or limited incomes. Many require living in shared residences in order to afford living in the city.
An activist house is a residential house or apartment that a group of activists share together. These houses often serve as activist hubs, acting as creative spaces and hosting events such as meetings and film screenings. These residences provide both mutual support and networking opportunities for resident activists, while providing them with an affordable and cost-effective residence.
