We are a forming community near the village of Lanark, Ontario. We have 160 acres, mostly rock and trees, but with two established gardens, a 3 bedroom home and a well-equipped woodwork shop.

The property is currently owned by one of the members. We hope to establish a multi-stakeholder cooperative soon.

Our goal is to be a model for sustainable, low impact living. We intend to practice, learn and teach permaculture as well as sustainable forestry.

Statement of Housing Non-discrimination:

Our community does not discriminate in regards to housing based on race/color, national origin, religion, sex/gender, family status (i.e. having children, not having children, or being pregnant), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, ancestry, source of income, age, creed, personal appearance, political affiliation, HIV infection, military/veteran status, unfavorable military discharge, gender identity or expression, receiving public assistance, or being the victim of domestic abuse.

Join Fee: Yes ($60 per year to be a member of our association. To become a resident member, one is expected to buy a full share. This can be done on a monthly basis, non-refundable for the first 3 years. These details may change.) Regular Fees: Yes (Depends on the level of membership)
Land and Buildings Rural Area: 160 acres (64.7 hectares) Land Owned By: Individual community member(s) (Hope to establish a multi-stakeholder co-operative soon which will own the land. Some members have contributed to purchase.) Number of Residences: 2 (We hope to build sustainable housing--possibly cob, earthship etc.) Cohousing: No (We favour clustered housing, similar to cohousing.)	Food, etc. Percentage of Food Grown: 21-50% (Those living on site grow a good part of their own food.) Share Community Meals: 1-3 times/month (This should change as we progress) Dietary Choice or Restrictions: Diet is up to each individual (We are working on decisions about dietary choices. Some members are vegan.) Dietary Practice: Primarily vegetarian Alcohol Use: Used occasionally (Not decided yet. Alcohol is not likely to be prohibited but inebriation will be discouraged.) Tobacco Use: Seldom used (Not decided yet. Smoking will probably be prohibited or restricted to certain areas.)
