Eco Acres
NC or VA Mountains, North Carolina,
United States
Looking to join with three other families to buy about 40 acres in the mountains of NC. Near Black Mountain or Penland would be ideal. Also near water and recreation options would be great. It would not be important for all or any of the families to maintain their primary residence on the land. I would like to be off the grid. When we could afford it I would like to put a very nice outhouse, fire pit and 4 yurts on the property. A very nice bath house and sauna would be nice, too. Also, a stage and stump seating could be added. I would like to use the land for the enjoyment of the 4 families but also to generate revenue through offering accommodations, unique experiences, therapeutic/ educational, artistic and team building workshops, outdoor theater, and more. It would be a place where 4 families could cooperate to create a very unique and special place to share and create.
My husband and I have a varied educational background including MA degrees in Conflict Resolution, Education, and Liberal Studies and BA degrees in Fine Arts, and German Area Studies and Assoc. Degree in Photography Spanish and a Women's Studies minor. He runs a production company (photography and video) and I am mainly focused on raising our 2 and 3 yr old boys. (We hope to adopt 2 children from the Foster System in the future, as well). I would like to put lots of time and energy into Eco Acres to make it something special, and to use our skills in innovative ways. I would like to bring what can to the table and join with others to build a community that has a core but is open to sharing with the larger world.
