New World at Anela's Hawaiian Farm
Naalehu, Hawaii, Big Island,
United States
We are an intentional community created to provide a 19 acre sanctuary for a maximum of 20 people. We purchased the land in 2006, selectively cleared it ourselves to keep native trees and plants, fenced it, built a community building on it, and have planted 100s of fruit trees and perennial plants.
We utilize organic farming and permaculture principles. We also use alternative energy from a windmill and are on catchment water. We receive enough rainfall that we never have to purchase water.
Our next phase is to establish co-housing for community members selected to live and work here. Each family will build their own small residence to sleep in and for minimal personal space and use the community building for cooking, bathing, group activities, etc.
We believe something is going to happen in the world in the not too distant future and that we are creating this sanctuary for that reason. If you feel drawn to Hawaii, believe you are meant to live in Hawaii in a community, and are trying to find that place, then contact us.
We are not associated with religious organizations and do not require any particular kind of religious practice. We do require that our members are nice to other people, tell the truth, and follow basic principles required to live peaceably with others. We seek community members who are able to work physically on the farm and are in good health.
We are pescatarians and have some dietary limitiations geared toward acquiring and maintaining good health. We do not eat meat or cane sugar products. We will accept pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans.
We do not require a monetary contribution to join our community. However, we have many projects that new members may contribute toward if they are able such as building a rock wall around our farm, adding solar panels to supplement our windmill for power, and building additional greenhouses.
New conditional members will live in rustic accomodations until they are full community members and build their own accomodations. If you cannot live in rustic conditions and work hard, then this isn't the community for you. The balance to all the hard work is our beautiful surroundings.
