St. Thomas Catholic Worker House
New Orleans, Louisiana,
United States
The St. Thomas House is rooted in the core values of the Catholic Worker movement: service, community, simple living and spirituality. Volunteers live in the community and support one another in being a compassionate presence to the community. A chief ministry of our house is using two extra rooms to provide hospitality to folks experiencing homelessness and needing a place to stay. Other ministries include open table dinners, running an evening resource center, hosting speakers, providing breakfast for day laborers, and more. The community was first formed in fall of 2008 and has expanded to our current 6 bedroom home in the Irish Channel. We are currently seeking new volunteers to live in intentional Christian community with us. We are looking for people of all faiths who want to grow in these core values and who enjoy sharing life with a group of awesome and committed people. We are open to creative people with new ideas about how to best grow and evolve as a community. If interested, please email us at cw@nolacatholicworker.org.
