| A small contemplative community existing as a witness to God's presence in the world through their mission of prayer, Christian education and spiritual retreats. They answer the call to peace as directed by the Lord Jesus Christ.
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20
This is a place of prayer and simplicity of life; sacred space dedicated to God. Spiritual retreats/workshops and days of quiet reflection are available to pilgrims of all faiths in a plain, low technological environment in harmonious natural surroundings.
The community is unique for being the first Quaker Monastery in the U.S. They follow a monastic schedule which also includes time for daily intercessory prayer. They promote peace and foster interfaith understanding and ecumenical relationships.
The community is a group of men and women who embody a modern form of monasticism which provides structure to life lived in the light, and under the sovereignty, of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Our common ideal is living a balanced life of prayer, work, and study in a joyous spirit of self-giving. We strive to be as self sufficient as possible, living by the labor of our own hands while we loving steward and care for our land and the animals which help sustain us.
Limiting the constant distractions of worldly life, each day embraces a rhythm of prayer and work in the constant awareness of God in all aspects of our lives. Simplicity, silence and reflection assist us in a daily course of "sacred listening", our hearts eager to reflect the glory of God in our personal lives and our lives lived in community. | Community location is placed at the center of the zip/postal code, city/state, or city/country (not based on street addresses) The Peace Doves of Quaker Monastery, from hatch to flight |
