| A small residential community of men and women from different Christian traditions, living, working, praying together. Committed to a ministry of reconciliation in all aspects of its life. It seeks to challenge visibly the unacceptable divisions, injustices, and inequalities in society and in the churches. It strives to develop ways of living out and sharing with others its commitment to Christian unity, to justice and peace as a witness to God's love for the world.
Columbanus Community of Reconciliation (CCR) implements its aims by affording Protestants and Catholics an opportunity to share and develop together their common faith in Jesus Christ (twice-daily prayer, regular eucharistic celebration, occasional Bible study); providing a setting that encourages simplicity, communal responsibility, and accountability (evening meal together, cooking, and jobs rota); providing a place of hospitality and accommodation; running educational programs for adults and children; offering a forum where all can be accepted; taking an active part in the religious, social, and political life of the wider community in northern Ireland. The Columbanus family of reconciliation, incorporating CCR, is a growing circle of Christians who seek both to reconcile and to celebrate the diversity they represent
CCR seeks to be holistic in its approach--is planning to use its large garden, chapel, and library as resources for health and healing, wisdom, and inner growth. | Community location is placed at the center of the zip/postal code, city/state, or city/country (not based on street addresses) |
