We are interested in starting a small community, we have a small piece of land now and would be interested in working toward purchasing a larger piece of land that is co-owned by members and WORK towards being self sufficient.
For now, I have a place for people to live and work toward the future.
I'm a woodworker / finisher / remodels , etc... My wife is a housecleaner, and we may be able to provide paid work. There is a big town 5 miles away, and a large city 15 miles aways with one of the stronger economies of the country lately.
If someone is looking to learn carpentry and cabinetry and make a life for themselves this may be something. I do plan on building a shop here within the year and try to sell cabinets and furniture, etc. instead of having to work for someone else forever.
I/we are looking for the right persons or couple/small family, whatever that could benefit from a sitution like this,
The land is nice, mostly treed, very secluded (pretty much).
You could either have an rv to live in, or there is an old trailer house that could be utilized if needed. and once it is torn down there will be a shop there w/living quarters.
Looking for just mellow nice peaceful kind souls...
I am fond of the ways of the Hutterites and other peaceful societies, but without the religion, not that I am against religion, but I don't want a society because of religion. i just like the way they all work together and make a living/life and support their 'community' in sickness and health, food, etc... Living in America today seems to be such a private venture, where each person is expected to take care of their selves... (house, car, food, health, etc...), well... housing is crazy. we are all expected to live the "all american dream" which is to buy a house and live happily ever after. well, that house is expensive and the deal is, america bleeds us to purchase this house because america needs the money these houses cost, the bank needs the APR, you must supports every contractor out there to maintain your house... I'll shut up! Houses are money pits that people slave their lives away for. I don't understand why a family/person can't spend $5000 and have something to live in.
Read up on the Hutterite and how they grow, split and purchase new land. Very neat. Not that I agree with everything they do, it's just neat how they are growing and have these communities that support all of the people in it from birth to death.
