Shared Farm Ownership with Community Participation
For a limited time, you are invited to visit SoFair Farms and
see for yourself why this newly being formed Intentional
Community may be your best chance to make a difference.
SoFair Farms has a unique mission; to create a model eco community
living in harmony with its environment and neighbors. The 20 acre farm, located just south of Fairfield and Route 34, is one of the most beautiful you will ever see in this area. The perfect marriage of climate, soil, local community, and abundant resources, all set the tone for the possibilities here at SoFair Farms.
The purpose of SoFair Farms is the creation, building and on-going
promotion of a mixed-use ecologically designed community, where residents live within a working organic farm. As a model for sustainable living, SoFair Farm’s goal is to create a community that is both ecologically and socially enriching. The greater farm will be comprised of working gardens, integrated animal systems, orchards, ponds & natural features, and nurseries & greenhouses.
In essence, we are creating an engaging and productive neighborhood, safe and enjoyable for the entire family. The vision of SoFair Farms is the integration of both community and sustainable agriculture. We are creating a model environment, through regenerative design processes, where we
live in greater harmony with one another and the landscape around us. In the celebration of diversity, equality, connectedness and democracy, our community supports the foundation for an enriching quality of life.
SOFAIR FARMS COMMUNITY
An ecologically and socially sustainable community seeks new members.
“Community is the secret ingredient in sustainability.”
SoFair Farms utilizing Permaculture design is an organic farm/community that is offering people an extraordinary opportunity to co-create their own neighborhood. The skilled and inspired, women, men and families that already are interested in SoFair Farms are now meeting potential new community members to participate in this timely and contemporary
sustainable lifestyle. We seek people who are friendly, conscious, talented, and who will compliment our harmonious vision.
THE LAND
Our 20-acre organic farm is as beautiful as it is bountiful, and its ideal location provides access to Interstates, shopping/amenities, and the vibrant community of Fairfield with the MUM campus and is equal distance to downtown as is Vedic City. Located in the heart of Jefferson County, in Southeast Iowa, the land is blessed with plenty of water including a pond & stream, and public water, electric and proper placement for eastern facing Vastu homes.
THE VISION
Social, ecological and financial sustainability are synergistically woven into SoFair Farm’s vision. We desire to show how a marriage of modern and ancient wisdom, can create both outer and inner abundance. Our goal is a healthy, fun and rewarding life, which serves our common desire to be happy.
THE PEOPLE
It’s all about the people. Diversity, equality, connectedness and democracy are foundational ingredients of this collaboration. The opportunity to participate in something this special necessitates special people. We seek those who possess greater awareness and emotional maturity than the average person because SoFair Farms is designed to exceed average expectations. With the wealth of critical skill sets already assembled, we are destined to become a model for sustainable living and inspire its participants as well as the wider society. As it will be the community members who hold the responsibility and power to steward these aims, we
need not apologize for being selective with regard to who can participate. We seek investor-members with integrity, character and courage, who will be great partners as well as neighbors.
THE COMMUNITY
The land, the people, the skills, the infrastructure and the purpose have all aligned. SoFair Farm’s existing farm and community infrastructure is well underway, including planned roads, drainage systems, terraced garden beds, 2 aquaculture ponds, and a 900-s/f farm/volunteer house.
Infrastructure to be completed soon includes, 3 guest cabins, a yoga/mediation center, a barn, a nursery and animal housing. At minimum,
SoFair Farm’s revenue streams will include income from the following: the rental of the 3 guest cabins, the sale of organic produce and dairy products, the on-site hosting of educational workshops, as well as a pay-to-learn volunteer organic farming program. With our current associated members, we already have a wealth of experience in providing each of these marketable services. The adjacent land to the north will also be available for larger scale organic farming as needed.
THE OPPORTUNITY
SoFair Farms membership does require an investment.
Membership of SoFair Farms includes the following: your choice of available home sites, electricity and water to that site, equal ownership of the entire farm, including all infrastructures, a growing number of revenue streams, respect and an equal voice. Memberships will be available selectively for a total of 20 owner neighbors. As of this writing, 2 of these memberships have already been filled. This is due in part to the passion, genuine experience and skills acquired by some of SoFair Farm’s founders, such as sustainable organic and Biodynamic farming, animal husbandry, construction or green building, eco-education, and Permaculture strategies to name just a few.
If this message inspires you, then we will likely be inspired by each other. For investment-membership or information contact Tom at 610-659-7532.
