Natural Beauty Farm
Damascus, Virginia,
United States
Natural Beauty Farm is committed to growing a vibrant, eclectic, harmonious, income-sharing community living on a 25-acre land trust active farm and forested property in Damascus, Virginia.
Our unique land feels rural, yet is only 1.5 miles from town and the Appalachian Trail and 10 miles from a community college in Abingdon. The property sits at 2800’ elevation with clean, clear springs, acres of woods and pasture, space for gardens, orchards, cropland, and bee yards. The farm is home to all sorts of wildlife and wild edibles.  The four seasons here are mild and the bugs few with access to top-notch trout streams and hiking.
We are dedicated to developing a cooperative and sustainable lifestyle that offers a joy filled, high quality of life. Our commitment to being as self sufficient as possible leads us to take responsibility for our own food - growing an organic garden and eating as local, organic, and in-season as possible. We are primarily omnivores and strive to take responsibility for the meat we eat.  Our  animal husbandry businesses provides both food and income for the community.  We breed and sell registered Nubian goats out of some of the top bloodlines in the world, ducks, geese, laying hens and roosters we eat. Other animals on the farm include a rescued horse; Gator, a 2 yr old gelded quarter horse and 4 dogs; Fritz - a Bulgarian Karakachan livestock guardian dog, Heidi, Resa and Jazzy -German Shepherds who work with the livestock and were trained to herd in the tending style, where they act like living fences.
We are currently sharing a house with room for 3 - 4 more. There is a second house on the property still under construction that is completely off the grid and has a working solar electrical system in place. We have various barns, sheds and coops with plans for a greenhouse or two. We estimate this land could support a close knit community of 20 - 30 adults and children.
We value individual creativity, diversity, personal responsibility, common sense and honest communications in our members. We welcome families, couples or individuals at any stage of life with the willingness to contribute to improving the lives of everyone in the community. Please email if you see the potential for a mutually beneficial relationship! Email:  info@naturalbeautyfarm.com and you will get a fast response with a little more information.
