Delhi village is a green co-housing project forming in Whanganui, New Zealand.
It’s an opportunity to live in a village atmosphere, close to friends on shared land, but independent in your own house and section.
The aim is to create a community that’s more environmentally sustainable, but with enough freedom to pursue this goal in your own way.
As at January 2013 full site developments have taken place and we are now seeking official subdivision titles from local council requesting 10 sections of aprox 800m2 each. Including common land our property is 12.8 hectares. There are currently 9 families and we are always happy to hear from people who may be interested in living here in the future.
The land is on the fringe of Whanganui, an arty, ragged, interesting provincial town of 40,000.
Building sites in the village are clustered together, with the rest of the land available for orchards, gardens, growing firewood and grazing sheep and chickens. The steepest land will be re-clad in native forest.

Hi. Yes Delhi is the name of the street hence the name.
We are a cooperative of sorts. Our legal structure is currently a company which all members have a share in. All decisions are made by consensus with all village residents input received. Our principles and values are varied and include permaculture, cooperation with others and the ability to choose our neighbours. Im sorry we dont have any accommodation as yet. Over the course of the next 2 years or so we will be building our homes. Thanks
