| We are an urban, eco-community in an old, working class neighborhood of Toledo, Ohio. We accept men as residents. You will be among the first to develop this small community. We share meals and common living expenses. We ask for a monthly donation of $300 - $400 per person to cover utilities and other overhead.
We own the house and two adjacent city lots and are aggressively working to aquire a third lot. We are combining the lots as one large yard for muiltiple use: community garden, meditation gardens, festivals and fund raising events. We will add chickens this spring!
We prefer that you are employed or have income. The house was in rough shape when we bought it. We have done much repair, already. Applicants, however, should be prepared to live in a simple house.
Your involvement makes sense if you intend this to be a long term investment, or want to donate your time, effort because you believe in our cause.
Part of an eco lifestyle is to avoid petroleum based transpartation. The location of our house is very walkable, bikable, and right on a bus line. I have walked downtown many times. If you do have a car, we have off-street parking behind the house and street parking in front of the house.
We rely on the farmers' market, which is easy walking over the bridge. We will grow as much of our own food as possible next year. We also plan to produce our own Monk's Mead, wine, and beer. We love to have fun.
We will soon offer various activities and events to the outside community: Kabbalah share group, spiritual delevopment classes, Mass, prayer meetings, and seasonal festivals.
We plan to open a coffee house, PC repair services, and a gift shop for a suggested donation amount. Espresso, latte, smoothies... The location of the house is well suited for this. We are located directly across from a very busy convenient store, the Eastside minimart.
You can hang with us for a week, a year, or a lifetime. Accepting applications for men willing to assist in getting us up and running.
"Together we can accomplish what we are not able to do alone."
