ANIMAL VILLAGE - green, no-kill, cage-free
Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Colorado
(Location not yet decided)
I'm looking for a small group of passionate, responsible people who'd like to focus on creating a non-profit animal rescue sanctuary in Oregon, Washington, Idaho or Colorado.
After securing some acreage, I'd like to add 3 to 5(?) small, private homes or cabins for members/co-owners (whatever business structure we decide to use).
Alternative building ideas such as straw bale, earthship, shipping containers or any creative, environmentally careful styles as well as solar and/or wind power will be implemented to conserve resources and create an innovative, conscientious, self-sustaining animal rescue community.
The mission statement would focus on these priorities:
1. Homeless Animals - rescuing, rehabilitating when needed, and adopting out to forever homes after careful screening process. "Unadoptable" animals - whatever that means - could remain on the property for life.
2. Community Interaction/Education - programs involving schools, Girl/Boy Scouts, 4-H Club, seniors, juvenile offenders, etc. I'd also like to build a simple stage to host benefit events (pet shows, music festivals, art shows, etc).
Creativity would be highly encouraged to make the project effective, fun and stable.
The animal rescue organization will be structured as a 501c3 non-profit and will have a board of directors.
