Micah House
Kensington, California,
United States
Our Patron Prophet Micah
The Micah House is an intentional community of young adults who seek to be contemplatives in action in our attempt to “do justice, to love kindness and walk humbly with our God.”
Practicing ecumenism in the Berkeley hills, we are currently four: two Catholics, an Episcopalian and a member of the Covenant Church. We eat together, pray together, and often study together.
Our patron Prophet Micah was thought to be a student of the Prophet Isaiah’s and prophesied that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Like Micah, we are students who also expect to see Christ in our midst as we extend hospitality to our friends and neighbors. Weekly chores and monthly finance meetings are also part of our communal commitments.
Although we are rooted in the Christian tradition, we are open to all different kinds of faith traditions, eager to broaden our spiritualities. Also, we have a small guest room for anyone interested in exploring intentional community or enjoying the beautiful Berkeley hills.
