Creekview Farms Retreat
Liberty, Tennessee,
United States
Sun Valley farmhouse.
Creekview Farms Retreat is an close-knit collective, which provides queer safe space. Our community makes decisions based on consensus and welcomes spiritual and gender diversity. Life here is pastoral and simple; we "live deliberately," and front "the essential facts of life." Thus, our farmhouse is supplied with gravity-fed spring water, and much of our heat in the winter derives from wood we chop in the summer and fall. The decisions we make regarding the land surrounding our farm is focused on giving care to the land, so that the land, in turn, will flourish, thus, providing for us. Residents here live in several small cabins located either across the creek from or in the hollow above the central farmhouse. We organically grow vegetables, herbs, and an array of other flowers and shrubs. Chickens, guineas, and ducks provide our community with eggs, and help keep pesky insects at bay. Three dogs and one cat provide our community with companionship and, of course, multiple "dog bells" to alert us of, for example, an approaching mailman. Our community also engages in two major projects: we make all-natural soaps -- such as lavender and rosemary, tea tree, oatmeal and honey, etc. -- and we also make tie-dyed clothing. Four other intentional communities are located near Creekview Farms Retreat: Ida, Pumpkin Hollow, Sassafras, and Short Mountain Sanctuary. We welcome visitors anytime.
Statement of Intent:
Let Creekview be a community where we find a place to work through and heal our issues of separation from the faiths/spiritual realities of our earliest life experiences, knitting them together with our new understandings. Let it be a place where meaning can be brought out of the chaos that has often surrounded our struggles with sexuality and spirituality. It is in our childhood that our faith is based, and it is as children that our faith develops its roots to the divine and to our place in the universe. Once severed from this childhood faith, we are at sea, and life, for some, can be turmoil. We dream to build a community centered in the love of The Divine, which can embrace the sexual and the spiritual as being part of the same whole. Let us proclaim that the responsible use of our sexual-spiritual gifts is a sound and worthy expression of our highest call to Love.
