Forming

rancho gallo rico
Arizona,
United States
I am looking to form a homestead or a very small community within the next few years. At this point I am just looking for people to connect with and share ideas.
My hope is to eventually acquire some land in Southern Arizona, ideally in Santa Cruz County or surrounding areas. I am interested in living as sustainably/ self sufficiently as possible. I would like to build a small home using natural and recycled materials(interested in cob, strawbale),I am also interested in building a compost toilet, rainwater harvesting, having a few chickens, permaculture design, etc. Of course we would have to come up with some ways to create a modest income, but ideally I would like to create a place that is largely self sufficient, off grid and we could attempt to grow a large amount of our own food.
I am looking for a few individuals or couples that share similar ideas/dreams and would like to talk/share ideas and maybe eventually go in on getting some land together to build our own homes on. It would also be cool to have some shared spaces like an outdoor kitchen area, garden areas, etc. I am not religious or very spiritual, not vegan although I am generally vegetarian. If this all sounds good to you, send me an email!
