Costa Rica
We are an intentional community focusing on integral stewardship of the land through permaculture designs, raising whole healthy children, honoring our bodies as temples, and harmonious relationships with each other using non-violent communication.
A casual 40 minute drive through some lovely pueblos and charming vistas brings you to a small farming village, named San Agustin, and it’s new landmark - a silver school bus RV, parked at the top of our driveway, marking the fruition of our six month journey through latin america, seeking and finding a new home with a view.

On the farm you will find our home, complete with a new 10 meter wide yoga deck, over 150 young fruit trees, dozens of mature ones, tilapia ponds, a thatched roof rancho, two school bus cabins, a greenhouse, composting toilets, solar heated showers, permaculture garden, and plenty of space to host friends, and welcome future members to build their own home in the hills.

We are actively building a substantial infrastructure, including our up and coming community center, complete with bunk house, kitchen, and workshop space.  We have located three artesian springs on the property and have been able to supply fresh drinking water to three different zones on the property, with just one of them.  Animal husbandry is an eagerly looked forward to element of farm life here.  We will soon begin construction of our first chicken coop and goat pen.  All of our practices are in accordance to strict organic standards.  We would have it no other way.

We are welcoming volunteers/visitors who don’t mind “rustic” accommodations, and enjoy the creative process of breaking ground and building hosting grounds for generations to come.

As we have not made this effort and investment merely for ourselves, we are actively welcoming co-creators to many degrees.  We have set the farm up to be owned by a Costa Rican corporation, named Finca Fruición.  This corporation is split into a number of shares.  Some of those shares may be held by residents and others by non-residential entities.  We also welcome visitors and donations to keep our efforts fruitful.
If you feel a resonance with our project and feel inspired to donate, we deeply appreciate it! Here’s a more detailed description of each of our involvement options. Thank you and enjoy.
Here is a more description on the different ways to interact with our community and farm.
Visitors:
We have set up a volunteer program that allows our guests to decide what type of contribution that they wish to make to the farm.  Accommodations currently include 2 school bus RV’s, covered tent platforms, and hammocks.  In exchange for your welcome to use these spaces, we are asking for a minimum of 10 hours work on the farm, per week.  Depending on your dietary needs, you may choose to feed yourself from your own provisions, or eat from the food provided in our evolving communal kitchen space.  For an extra 3 hours of work or $10, per day, you will be welcome to eat from the communal food supply and participate in communal meals.  Work options may vary from digging garden beds, planting or harvesting food, construction projects, soil building, childcare, or participation in one of our farm’s evolving cottage industries.   Arrangements must be made ahead of time, and are dependent on available space at the time of your desired visit.
Residential Community Members:
Any individual or family who wishes to become an annual or semi-annual resident, and have the privilege to build a home here, is required first to stay as a guest, under our volunteer program, for a minimum of 45 days, before such a decision may be made.  This is to give time for both current members, and the perspective family, to experience life together beyond the enchantment and confusion phases of such a change, before a decision is to be made.  This is an important decision, and deserves time beyond impulse.
After such time, residential shares into the community may be purchased, and a home built, within the allowances set by the farm’s charter.  Shareholders of this type will be instrumental in making communal decisions regarding life on the farm and many of the farm’s cottage industries, resource sharing, etc.   These shares may be sold to current or future members, only at the unanimous decision of all other residential shareholders.
Non-residential Share Holders:
A small number of shares have been put aside for those who wish to make a financial investment or contribution to the farm, but do not wish to build a home or live here for much of the year.  Any holder of these shares will be welcome to visit the farm without any additional work or financial contribution, for a maximum of 150 days out of each year.  Additional lengths of stay may be arranged. These shareholders will not have much voting power as to the day to day life on the farm, but will be invited to annual shareholder’s meetings, to discuss cottage industries and resource sharing.
Donations:
Finca Fruición is moving forward at a wonderfully fulfilling pace.  Much infrastructure has begun and plenty more is to come.  It is frequently expressed by friends, family, and acquaintances that they desire to make a contribution, even though life on the farm is simply not for them.  For those who wish to make a smaller financial contribution into the farm and our mission, we have set up a paypal account for such donations to be received, which is located on our website.
All funds received through this account will be used specifically to maintain our current reforestation projects (over 1500 native hardwoods have been planted and need care), build a children’s play zone for use of the greater surrounding community, and build and enhance communal use spaces and guest houses.  Future fundraisers will also be announced for the establishment of some of our planned outreach programs, in our neighboring Costa Rican communities.  Co-creators who choose to drop such an offering into the ever abundant magic hat, will be updated as to the specific project that they helped make happen.  No donation is too big or too small.  This is all for the greater empowerment of the whole, and we have been keeping detailed accounting as to the use of all funds.
Thank you for your interest in our little piece of paradise. May your life be filled with inspiration and empowerment.
Finca Fruicion.
