Avalons native residents
Avalon is 41 acres in Southern Missouri. We have two new members joining us August 2010! New phone numbers! 316-516-3926! We are looking for potential community members. We have the land and one dwelling and are working to make our village a true Avalon. We will have one main community house for meals, dances, and hanging out. We are only looking for potential community members that are willing to work, and build our little village up from the ground. It will be a off the grid and self sufficient village all community members can be proud to call home.
> We are Pagan and all community members need to be OK with that. You do not have to be Pagan just accepting of every ones right to choose there own Spiritual path. We have set a goal to be growing 90% of our own food by this time next year. We want to push to get the dwellings ready this year before winter. Then we will have all winter to work and plan together before spring thaw. Also the green house will be built over the winter as weather permits. We are vegetarian and ask that you do not kill or hunt at Avalon. If you want meat hunt outside our borders or purchase meat from town. We have two vehicles for the community, and community members can get rides to town when needed. We also will be checking with other nearby communities about work exchanges, and barter possibility for things we do not yet grow ourselves. We are hardworking, fun loving people tired of plastic junk and struggling for more junk. We will also be speaking to demo companies about picking up building materials that would otherwise head to the dump.
> We do not smoke but if you do thats up to you. In your house in the community its up to you. But in shared community buildings no smoking is the rule. We are open to sharing houseing this first winter so we can get the large community building built before winter. And we will be puting a solar set up on this building. We also will be installing passive solar hotwater heaters and composting bathroom. If you have debt thats ok but were not able to pay it for you. However we will share profit on any work we do as a group. We do at times work building, cleaning, hauling for cash to pay bills (auto insurance, taxes, food, etc.) and if you join in we will share all profits after expenses like gas to get to the job, between all who help equally. We are very excited and determined to make this work, we also think home schooling with monthly museum trips is the best option. But again we can decide that together.
