This is just an expression of interest Im 55, still in good health and want to retire early near the ocean on Van Island within an hour or so of medical facilities. I wonder if there are other like minded people that would like to pool resourses and labor to build a small, eco aware community of young at heart (and younger ones if they wished)people that have enough basic financial resourses to allow them to do something like this. I dont know the details but I am a former builder and carpenter and I still have a few houses left in me before the physical work of building is no longer enjoyable. I envision a large garden for fresh veggies, (land must be arable)maybe some chickens and a couple of shared vehichles , a shared boat for fishing. Living a simpler slower life. Still want indoor plumbing, good potable water , electricity and internet service etc is essential. I have no religious affiliations other than I suppose Im Christian and share ideals like no tobaco, occasional alchohol, follow the golden rule, treat others as you would like to be treated and be fair about everything you do. I also believe that humor and laughter are essential to healthy day to day living. There is much more to discuss and write and nothing is cast in stone, but I just thought Id see if there are others that might have a similar vision for their retirement years. No drugs, no criminal types, I have no criminal record , never been in jail, dont protest, dont want crusaders trying to change the world, (thats okay) just not what im after, I want to share with people that want to share in a comfortable but simple lifestyle by the ocean. People with morals, and a good sense of humor. Intelligent, enthusiastic, life long learners.
