Single Mama's Collective
Floyd, Virginia,
United States
(no specific location)
Mission Statement: To provide a community for single mothers, mothers with partners, single fathers, and supportive individuals of every generation who are ready to reunite with the band of motherhood and get/give support and stability for themselves and their children and subsequent generations; without the unnecessary, extraordinary pressures of civilized society. To provide an opportunity to learn and grow and play with other moms and kids through reconvening in Nature, cooking around a central hearth, re-learning medicinal and edible plants and survive and thrive skills through workshops and every day use, developing one or more sustainable cottage industries; incorporating the old with the new, and never forgetting the arts, crafts, and music which feeds us. To vision together a place to ground, to develop roots AND wings and have the space and support to be the mother you truly want to be.
This is still in the idea stage. I wish so badly I had a place to invite everyone to! But I know that spreading this vision around will make it more likely to manifest. I hope that this kind of community will eventually be found all over the place, i.e. local chapters.
We're looking for: people with land to donate, builders, sustainable, natural building material donations, grant writers, brainstormers, anyone who may already have some experience/insight into this kind of venture.
In the meantime I encourage everyone to form circles and create your own local community of support to the best of your ability! Namaste, blessings, much love.
