Several years ago, a group came together to answer the question, "Where will we live during our next stage of life?" The answer led to The Sheldon Cooperative: a 55+ urban community co-op in walkable and vibrant NW Portland, OR focused on providing a supportive, secure and active environment.
Key to this idea is a low-density, urban building that is highly sustainable and built to support an active aging lifestyle. Individual homes have large open living rooms and kitchens with huge balconies. Large community spaces encourage members to gather in the library, or out on the terrace or sizeable veggie garden.
The location of The Sheldon Co-op is deemed a "Walker's Paradise" by walkscore.com. Sandwiched between Nob Hill and The Pearl District, The Sheldon is near endless shops, attractions, dining and necessities such as grocery stores. And what's better? Good Samaritan Hospital is located only one block away. It truly is, hands down, the best spot in town.
The Sheldon Co-op is the first of its kind on the West Coast. Our membership is already half full, and the project is successfully on its way to breaking ground in summer 2011. Please visit our website for more information on how to become a member.
