Thank you for your interest in Home Tree Domes, an aspiring ecovillage community in the early stages of development. We are presently seeking parents who are eager to assist each other in creating a mindful, empathetic, and affectionate environment for both parents and children. We’re particularly eager to explore the ideas described in books like, “Raising our Children, Raising Ourselves,” “The Continuum Concept,” and “Vital Touch.” I’d like to see a flock of young kids running around here this summer, enjoying the woodsy outdoors with our 3-1/2 year old, Wilcca. We’re also expecting a new one towards the end of February and would love to have parents with younger infants here as well to collaborate with us.
We are also seeking self-motivated individuals with interests in art, interior decoration, furniture design, carpentry, green-technology, greenhouse construction, permaculture, wildcrafting, maple syrup production, primitive-skills, massage, yoga, midwifery, herbalism, and other health practices. The community’s three existing two-story structures all have radiant floor heating powered by a newly installed outdoor wood-fired boiler. The interior finishing work in two of the three buildings is largely completed. Two of the buildings are of a unique 3-frequency icosahedron geodesic dome construction. I am seeking to transition out of my present status as sole owner and find ways to allow all community members to enjoy the benefits and responsibilities of having a financial stake in the community’s future.
We are also seeking engineers and inventors interested in working on a project to create a mobile ecovillage construction set that will include, amongst other technologies, a new form of low-cost collapsible fully-tensioned living structures that will be stretched in place throughout the forest canopy with minimal impact on the trees and and surrounding environment. Much of the resources needed for the prototype development stage have already been procured. We’ll be starting with the development of a tensioned wire cable floor system that will also have crossover application as a commercial yurt kit platform option. It is my belief that humanity now has the psychological, cultural, and technological tools needed to pursue a bold new multi-pronged strategy towards the creation and spread of profitable sustainable communal living arrangements of 50-250 individuals. I believe that such a strategy will help support the emergence of a new culture that creates elegant solutions to life's peaceful challenges solely through respectful consensual cooperation.
By early March, we will have a variety of small and large single and shared rooms available in the two geodesic domes, a 34’ temporary RV, additional powered campsites, and if work continues to progress as planned on the chateau (a two-story garage conversion in progress), the upstairs space with its two sleeping lofts should be near completion as well. The downstairs interior work will be ongoing but may provide storage and workshop space in the interim while it is being upgraded to studio/workshop space. There is also plenty of room on the main property’s rural partially wooded six acres for for low cost deep green accommodations if you're interested in helping us get started on our treehouse ecovillage. To a suitable buyer, the adjacent 6-acres of woods are also available for sale by owner with the possibility of owner financing.
Community members will be encouraged to share regular meals, voluntarily contribute to household maintenance and improvement, and be actively engaged in regular short community meetings (likely weekly). The indoor two-person jaccuzi tub, the chateau workspace, and both downstairs floors in the geodesic domes (including the two kitchens, downstairs bathrooms, and laundry room) are envisioned as remaining available for the entire community’s use. Community members will also have wifi access to Comcast 25Mbps high speed internet (currently 17Mbps down and 3.4Mbps up on my laptop). There is also the option to participate in a low cost cooperative community meal plan.
Please email or call if you'd like to discuss the possibilities and plan a visit to Home Tree Domes. .
Sincerely,
Rob Rolen

P.S. Additional Living Space Descriptions:
In the larger dome, the upstairs room is 33 feet in diameter with an additional 200sqft sleeping loft above the unfinished bathroom area that has two sinks, a two person shower, and a two-person jaccuzi tub. The total square footage is about 1000sqft. It could probably be shared by a few artistic non-snorers while we are still adding some finishing touches to the space. After it is completed, this fey forest glade will likely serve best as a gathering space for community activities like yoga and dancing. The space also has an 18ft movie screen and HD movie projector. Downstairs there is one 120sqft carpeted bedroom near the kitchen, full bathroom, and living room. The living room area may be converted into a kid’s play space.
In the smaller dome, there is a 185sqft room, a 140sqft room, and a separate full bathroom. Downstairs is a full kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and community gathering space.
The chateau project is a two story building about 20x30 with three separate peak lofts in the unique hand-finished upper floor.
