Life Works
Ashland, Wisconsin,
United States
Welcome to our part of Northern Wisconsin. We are a forming community currently having only two gay middle aged male members.
If you're looking to relocate and can handle a rustic relaxed type life than this might be a possibilty. There's enough room for a small group of people. It is rustic yet we are equipped to survive.
If you're wondering what might happen to you as you get older, have limited resources, but are willing to work as a group and share, knowing that if someone in that group is down there others will help him out, than again, this could be a solution.
It's about community and friendship. A way of life that seems to have been lost in the technological world. Its about peace and sharing. Working as a group. Being able to depend and trust those people in the group.
We're a place on a dead end road in the woods, surrounded by a few hundred acres of wooded land. There are no neighbors in sight. But, we are close enough to town for people to work if they need to or to get supplies. There is a new well and sewer. There is also another well that runs entirely on wind and sun.
Together we can make a safe warm place to live for those who need it and want to be part of a non traditional family setting.
There are gardens and the equipment to take care of them. Hand equipment mostly and a new rototiller. We may move a little slower every year, but anyone that thinks their gonna stay 22 forever is in for a rough ride.
You don't need a college degree, a new car or a credit limit to be a friend or part of this community. Just honesty loyalty, sincerity and the willingness to conribute.
No pretense, no flash, just life. We can be friends until we're senile and than we can be NEW freinds.
We are experimenting with electric transportation in the form of smaller EVs and conversions. We are on the grid in part but also have wind and solar power.
We love this place. It's home. In the times we're in now, we realize that its hard to find that feeling for some and would like to share that with others.
We do some artwork with wood and artists are welcome to check us out, as well as everyone else. Everyone has something special inside them. You just have to find it.
It is a very laid back and private community. Based on the idea that a handshake is a binding contract. That music is for enjoyment-not torture. And that laughter is good for the soul.
