Forest Moon Ecovillage
We are in the planning stages of the Forest Moon Ecovillage, to be located in northern Greenville County, South Carolina. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COMMUNITY DOES NOT YET EXIST!
The vision for Forest Moon Ecovillage is a sustainable intentional community based on the arts. Our plan is to have an outdoor stage/amphitheater capable of hosting at least two art and music festivals per year, as well as shops and galleries for resident artists and craftspersons.
We have a core group of about five people right now committed to the idea. We are cob builders and practitioners of earth-centered spiritualities. We are seeking people who are interested in joining us by pooling our finances to purchase land. Please note that in order to be a charter member, you MUST HAVE the financial resources to commit. Depending on the land, this could be anywhere from $2000 to $5000 per person. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO COMMIT TO THIS PROJECT.
Once land is purchased, we can start almost immediately to build. I teach cob building, and I have a ready pool of students who would volunteer labor in order to learn the art of cob building, so homes can be built fairly inexpensively. Some homes in the past have been built for less than $5000!
For a detailed description of the ecovillage and our plans, visit: www.cultureartist.org/forestmoon.htm.
We have already looked at three different properties that are relatively inexpensive and that would be suitable for our plans.
If you are interested in earth-centered spirituality, cob building, the arts and music (most of us are musicians and artists), we'd love to hear from you!
