Aroha Village Permaculture Community
Costa Rica
Welcome to Aroha Village Permaculture Community!
We are looking to form a core group of 7+ founders to establish a sustainable Permaculture community in Costa Rica (open to other locales).
THE COMMUNITY
Aroha Village is [to be] located on 22+ pristine tropical acres conducive to year-round organic food crop production. The main focus of the community in this early stage will be forming the Core Collective, pooling financial resources and acquiring land. From there, our focus will shift to developing (stewardship of) the land through organic gardening, food forestry, earth building, alternative energy and other Permaculture methods.
We are a community of 2-30 earth-loving, compassionate, urban refugees. Our life together in community is a simple expression of the love, respect and common vision we share. We believe that it is time for a paradigm shift away from the current standard of over-consumption. Our mission is to transition out of lives governed by fear, mis-education and separation into lives that are pure expressions of harmony, peace, love and sustainability.
As a community we honor and acknowledge each individual, culture, language, point-of-view and gift/talent and operate under the full understanding that we are all but reflections of one another – part of one whole (and no part is greater than the other).
Our body, mind, spirit, relationships and planet are being restored through our daily practices of accepting personal responsibility, environmental restoration, improved nutrition, love, compassion, healing and forgiveness. We invite and welcome all who are interested in simple, sustainable living in a tropical paradise to join us. Our homes and our hearts are open to you.
THE VISION
Our goal is to follow the basic principles of Permaculture to establish a 100% off-the-grid, zero-waste community. We shall provide home/community schooling options for those who are interested and aim to eventually produce enough fruits and vegetables to sustain the needs of the community.
Energy
Solar panels, hydro-electricity and wind turbines to meet the electrical needs of the community.
Housing
The goal is to live harmoniously on the land while also reducing our carbon footprint. We believe the best way to achieve this is by utilizing low-impact and natural earthen material construction techniques.
We harvest rain water, use composting toilets and will develop a grey water system for watering the organic garden.
