 Our Statement of Purpose:
The Community of Casa San Benito seeks to embody the living Christ’s Gospel (good news) in the world.
We do this by:
• Living in mutual support to provide spiritual homes for members and others who attend our Sabbath gatherings of Word and Commemoration;
• Focusing on Scripture, especially the four Gospels, for conversion of life (metanoia) for ourselves and those we encounter;
• Supporting members’ work and service in the community and world, as prophets, teachers, and supporters of spiritual practice and growth;
• Offering hospitality and spiritual direction for retreatants and seekers;
• Governing ourselves under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in mutual accountability according to our Spiritual Gifts.
We live in the Catholic Christian tradition, informed by St. Mary Magdalene – who bears apostolic witness with us that Christ is alive today, and by St. Benedict – who offers a path for continuous conversion as the People of God. We encourage each other in a daily spiritual practice of our choice.
Current status:(as of Summer 2011)
We hold weekly Sabbath gatherings in a private home; we call it a "house church." We especially welcome "recovering" Catholics, including LGBT and divorced people and others who may feel alienated from the RC Church.
Some members are Protestants who seek to live their lives following the Benedictine tradition. Three members live out-of-state and join us whenever they are in Santa Fe. We are currently mostly "Boomers" in age range; single, married, gay, straight.
We welcome email or phone inquiries and Sunday visits to see if our path resembles what you seek.
